I’m still trying to figure Rachel Reeves out.
But one thing’s clear: tax rises are coming.
And another thing’s just as clear: it won’t be her fault.
She’s already laying the groundwork…
Blaming Trump.
Blaming Israel.
Blaming the Tory Party.
(Heard my dog might be next.)
But here’s the real kicker — we’re already seeing the fallout from her last “once-in-a-generation” £40bn hike…
Parents pulling kids out of private school.
Non-doms leaving the UK.
Businesses scaling back to dodge rising NI costs.
This isn’t rocket science.
When you raise taxes, people act differently.
They protect themselves.
So what now?
Reeves is cornered. If she raises taxes again, which she will, the damage accelerates.
If she doesn’t, the books won’t balance.
Either way, the middle class gets squeezed. Again.
