The White House has directed chip design software companies Cadence (CDNS, Financial) and Synopsys (SNPS) to halt sales to Chinese customers, prompting both stocks to plummet over 10%. This decision comes after the U.S. Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security issued letters to both companies, as well as Siemens, regarding these restrictions. Cadence and Synopsys have not yet commented on this development.
